Dear Facebook

My name is Setareh Rock and I am ready to be an innovator, leader, and inspired RPM at your company.

& this is why:

It all started when…

I was a sophomore in high school, within some of the most awkward and confusing years of our lives. As I pursued many different activities, competed for tennis titles, and acted like I was over my ‘awkward growing phase’, I had a revelation: I’m most happy when I’m listening, asking questions, brainstorming (in projects and in the advice I’d give to my friends) and creating experiences that meant the world to my peers.

You may be wondering how this connects to who I am now as a 22 year old new grad, still unpacking who I am in this ‘I’m an adult but how do i adult’ phase. What I realized about myself when I was younger has always existed in my actions. My love for unpacking problems, researching to learn, developing unique solutions, and delivering meaningful moments has remained present during my growth, in the way I’ve interacted with my friends, and to the way I’m aligning my future goals with my skillset.

So why be an RPM?

Solving problems is in my DNA, actively listening is my anthem, dedicating my all to any project I work on gives me life. After working alongside Product Managers at a high-growth startup in Seattle, I finally felt as though I had found the career of my dreams. It aligned with exactly what makes me happy. I remember distinctly setting up a 1:1 with a Product Manager at the company in order to learn more about her role. Amplify the voices of your customers, proactively identify areas in need of improvement, maintain strategic and efficient product roadmaps, organize and project manage effectively for your team, create beautiful products, communicate, communicate, communicate... It all became music to my ears, I had to follow this through. After requesting to lead my own research project at the company, I was given the opportunity to work directly with this same Product Manager, and as I did so, my confidence in pursuing this career path solidified.

And why Facebook?

Let’s be real, I have grown up alongside Facebook. You have transformed, developed, and changed just as I have throughout the years. But you see, even with all the new features, acquired companies, innovative products, you remains true to your core: you actively listen to your users, brainstorm to innovate over and over, and create the most meaningful experiences for the masses. So, I’d say we share a fair amount in common… and I’m now ready to grow within your walls.
